ENYPNION夢

ENYPNION夢
The latest creation—a hybrid work at the crossroads of opera, contemporary dance, and Japanese Noh theater—explores the power of ritual as a theatrical language.
Synopsis
The show evokes a dreamlike world where East meets West, blending the minimalist and symbolic gestures of Noh theater with the fluidity and emotional intensity of contemporary dance and opera. Driven by the conviction that dreams are gateways to the deepest recesses of the human psyche, Enypnion uses stylized, ritualistic storytelling to create a state of “in-between”—exploring myths, spirits, and the blurred boundaries between the world of the living and the spirit world.

“Excerpt to come.”

Enypnion 夢—a hybrid work at the crossroads of opera, contemporary dance, and Japanese Noh theater—explores the power of ritual as a theatrical language. In a dreamlike landscape, it unites East and West, old and new, to invent a form in which voice, body, and music become inseparable.
The title, which combines the ancient Greek word enypnion, meaning dream, and the Japanese character for dream 夢 (yume), evokes the universality of the subconscious and the possibility of dialogue between cultures. Conceived between Luxembourg, Kyoto, Vienna, Paris, and Greece, the project weaves a network of influences and encounters where each place has left its mark.
On stage, Mária Devitzaki and dancer Melina Bountzika mirror each other: one prolongs the breath of the other. Pianist Konstantinos Diminakis, also responsible for orchestrations and sound design, weaves a constantly changing musical landscape.
Enypnion 夢 unfolds in a space between reality and dreams, myth and memory. Driven by the conviction that dreams open a door to the human soul, the show creates a dialogue between slowness and brilliance, silence and explosion, immobility and trance. In a world saturated with speed and distraction, it offers another rhythm: poetic beauty as a response to cynicism.
