A dream tethered to another mind
Enypnion夢 – A Contemporary Theatrical Mystagogy, by Anastasios Angelidis, writer
“A piano and two mesmerizing presences on stage draw near and drift apart, bound by a tie that seems unbreakable—yet in the end it breaks. They sing and move with symmetry, with grace and plasticity: at times minimal and discreet, at other moments with intense energy on the floor and in the air. They move us deeply, creating unforgettable images with their white garments, with the mask as interlocutor and identity. It is a dream that becomes a performance.
On stage, the two women move sometimes as mirrors of one another and sometimes in union, creating images of striking beauty against a musical landscape that is at times melodic, at times rhythmic, at times atonal, and at times unruly. The performance becomes dreamlike, cryptic, symbolic—both luminous and dark—with the dream always present in the background, appearing on the screen like a black hole with bursts of light, with the elements from which we are made, with the green of primordial nature.
As human beings, we are bound by ties to the past, to the other self, to our environment. We become mirrors of others; we project ourselves onto them. We endlessly seek our identity, searching for the other within a reciprocal relationship of spirit and body.
Our dreams are not structured. They transcend us. They may be a need for expression, a need for contact, an escape, a cry of liberation, thunder and lightning—nightmares wrapped in a white cloak.
They may also be our connection to the greater whole beyond us.”
A show combining dreams, myths, and emotion
“The show offers a poetic exploration of the boundaries between the visible and the invisible, immersing the audience in a dreamlike world where East meets West. […] The staging is based on a stylized and ritualistic narrative, inspired in particular by the codes of Noh theater, while incorporating the fluidity of contemporary dance and the expressive intensity of lyrical singing. The ensemble creates a unique, almost hypnotic atmosphere, where music and movement become a universal language.”
