Explore Greek folk songs with Mària Devitzaki at the Escher Theater on November 11, 2025.
The Greek-Luxembourgish soprano will introduce you to the songs of Mikis Thodorakis. When we talk about traditional Greek music, we immediately think of this composer, a symbol of resistance during the military dictatorship in Greece, and of an instrument, the bouzouki. In reality, there are many popular musical traditions in Greece, which Mària Devitzaki also explores by focusing on the rhythm, gestures, and dance-like phrasing that are at the heart of this warm musical culture, which is a hallmark of Greek identity.
This workshop is organized in collaboration with Sequenda Luxembourg. No language skills or singing experience are required to participate. A small tasting of Greek specialties will follow the singing class.
