Mária Devitzaki
Mária Devitzaki is a Luxembourgish-Greek soprano, stage director, choir conductor, and doctoral candidate in Opera and Performing Arts at the University of Macedonia. A graduate of the University of Macedonia and the Institut Royal Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Belgium, she has built a multifaceted career across Europe and Asia.
Her operatic repertoire includes title and leading roles such as Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Rigoletto), Norina (Don Pasquale), and Elle (La Voix Humaine). In contemporary opera, she has performed in Yasou Aida (Neuköllner Oper Berlin), Drei Wasserspiele by Detlev Glanert, Opéra d’Aran by Gilbert Bécaud etc.
She has appeared at prestigious venues and festivals including Suntory Hall Tokyo, the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Italy, and the Chuvashia National Opera International Festival in Russia. Her recording Stormlieder, featuring world-premiere works by D. Bullock, is part of the National Library of Luxembourg’s collection.
In Luxembourg, she collaborates with all major cultural institutions such as Escher Theater, CAPE Ettelbruck, Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, Trifolion Echternach, Arca Bertrange, Cube 521, Les Rotondes, etc. She also collaborates with entities like Sequenda Opera Studio, Opera Mobile, and Inecc, and conducts the Ensemble Lyrique Sequenda/Inecc and the Choir of the Hellenic Community of Luxembourg.
In 2025, she made a double debut in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine both as stage director and as “Elle”, a production for which she received the stART-up Fund of the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, awarded to mark a pivotal milestone in an artist’s career. She also premiered Enypnion夢:in situ at Casino- Forum of Contemporary Art Luxembourg following her research residency at the Katayama Foundation for Noh Theater in Kyoto.
Her work is currently supported by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture, Kultur|lx – Arts Council Luxembourg, Trois C-L – Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois, and the Fondation Indépendance BIL, among others.
The coming season 2025/2026, will find her premiering the theatrical version of Enypnion夢, reprising La Voix Humaine, performing in the production Coperta of Les Rotondes and being the Choirmaster of the production of Così fan Tutte of Sequenda Luxembourg.
